Youth Dies in Wild Elephant Attack Near Siliguri Sukna

A young man died after being attacked by a wild elephant near Sukna on Tuesday morning. The victim has been identified as Gautam Nagesia, a resident of Simalbari Tea Garden in Malibhita.

Details of the Incident

According to local reports, the incident took place in the Dhippadhura area under the Panikauri Jot region. The victim was on his way to drop someone off when he suddenly came face-to-face with an elephant. The elephant attacked him, leading to his death on the spot.

Police and Medical Action

Following the incident, local residents and concerned officials arrived at the scene to recover the body. The body was later sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. This incident has raised concerns among local residents regarding safety in areas near the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary.
