One woman was killed and two people are missing following an armed ambush in Manipur's Kamjong District on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Four civilians traveling to Phaikoh for essential supplies were attacked on a remote mountain road between Molnoi and Phaikoh. Hatneikim Haokip died on the spot, and her husband sustained bullet injuries before escaping.
Two other civilians remain missing, triggering ongoing search operations by security forces in the area. The missing individuals are D. Paokhothang Haokip and his wife Boishi Haokip from Chassad village. Local Kuki organizations have strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrests.
Security forces have launched joint search operations and set up additional check posts in response to the violence. Combined units of the Assam Rifles, state police, the Border Security Force, and the Indian Reserve Battalion are involved. Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam has appealed for peace and urged dialogue.
