West Bengal Sanctions Rs 354 Crore For Hill Disaster Management

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced the approval of Rs 354 crore for disaster management in the hill areas on Tuesday.

Fund Allocation For GTA

The disaster management department principal secretary Rajesh Sinha has been directed to release the funds to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. The funds will be used for disaster management and related work in the hills.

Relief And Safety Measures

The government will strengthen disaster management systems in the hills. Rescue teams including the army and NDRF will be kept ready. Financial aid of 1.5 lakh rupees will be given to 73 families who lost their homes in the October 2025 landslide.

New Infrastructure And Medical College

A new medical college and hospital will be established in Kalimpong. The foundation stone will be laid on October 6.

Investigation Into Irregularities

An inquiry committee headed by Justice Biswajit Basu has been formed to investigate corruption and irregularities in the GTA and development boards. Action will be taken against anyone found involved in corruption.
