West Bengal Government Boosts Local Jobs Through Industry

The West Bengal government is focusing on rapid industrialization to create local job opportunities and stop workers from migrating to other states. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari recently emphasized that new industrial projects will strengthen the state economy and provide stable work for local youth. The government aims to prioritize industrial growth to ensure that workers find employment within their own home state.

New Steel Plant Projects in Purulia

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a four thousand crore rupee integrated steel plant by Amit Metaliks in Raghunathpur, Purulia. This project, spread across 148 acres, is expected to provide direct and indirect employment to approximately 10,000 people. The plant is scheduled to become fully operational within one year. Additionally, the recently inaugurated 15 thousand crore rupee Shyam Steel project in Mejia is also expected to create 10,000 jobs for the youth in Purulia and surrounding areas.

Industrial Expansion and Future Policies

Beyond the steel sector, the state is seeing expansion in other industries, including a 600 crore rupee project by Lux and the development of a large yogurt manufacturing plant in Howrah. To further support this growth, the government plans to release a new investment and land policy soon to accelerate economic development. The Chief Minister also announced plans for a new civil airport in Purulia to improve regional connectivity and boost tourism, which is expected to create further job opportunities for local residents.

Government Action Against Corruption

The state government has taken a firm stance against corruption and illegal activities. District magistrates have been directed to control sand prices and ensure that all sand mining operations follow legal rules. The Chief Minister warned that strict action will be taken against officials involved in bribery and urged the public to report any instances of forced extortion. Residents are encouraged to contact the government directly if they face any illegal demands in the name of projects or organizations. This information was reported by Hindusthan Samachar.
