West Bengal Joins Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign for First Time

The West Bengal government is officially participating in the central government’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign for the first time. As part of this initiative, a large Tiranga rally was held in Kolkata on Monday to mark the start of the program. The campaign is scheduled to run across the state from August 9 to August 17.

Details of the Tiranga Rally in Kolkata

The rally began at Gour Pal Sarani in Kolkata and concluded at the North Gate of the Victoria Memorial. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari led the procession, accompanied by several senior leaders, including MLA Ratna Devanath, Minister Arjun Singh, Jagannath Chatterjee, Deepak Barman, MLA Rudranil Ghosh, and Kaustav Bagchi. Participants carried national flags throughout the route to mark the occasion.

Distribution of National Flags

During the event, it was announced that approximately 7.5 million national flags have already been distributed across the state to support the campaign. The Chief Minister encouraged all citizens of West Bengal to participate actively in the initiative. This campaign, which is observed annually by the central government from August 9 to August 15, has seen official involvement from the state government for the first time this year.

Announcement of Government-Led Rakhi Bandhan

In addition to the flag campaign, the Chief Minister announced that the Rakhi Bandhan festival will now be organized at the government level every year. He stated that this festival serves as a message to strengthen brotherhood and social bonds within the state. He further invited citizens to attend the main Independence Day celebrations scheduled for August 15 at Red Road in Kolkata.
