West Bengal Chief Minister reviewed the flood situation in Sabang, West Midnapore on Thursday following heavy rainfall. He inspected the affected regions by air and held meetings with administrative officials to assess ongoing relief and rescue operations.

Compensation for Affected Families

Additionally, three thousand two hundred houses were damaged in the Sabang block alone. Each of these affected families will receive financial assistance of thirty thousand rupees.

Flood Relief and Recovery Efforts

Heavy rainfall starting Sunday caused the water levels of several rivers, including Keleghai, to rise above the danger mark. The water level of the Keleghai river has now receded below the danger mark. People who were staying in relief camps have been provided with five days of rations and have returned home. Police teams have also been provided with funds to deliver rations and drinking water to residents in waterlogged areas.

Agricultural Support and Crop Insurance

Health department officials successfully treated 10 cases of snake bites reported during the flood. Camps for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana are starting from Thursday to assist paddy farmers. The government has also ordered separate arrangements for Madur-kathi crop insurance.
