West Bengal Backward Classes Commission Gets New Chairman

The West Bengal government has officially reconstituted the West Bengal Backward Classes Commission to streamline its administrative operations. The Backward Classes Welfare Department issued a formal notification on Thursday announcing the appointment of the new committee members to oversee the commission's activities.

New Chairman and Committee Members

According to the official notification, Justice Ranjit Kumar Bag, a retired judge of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the Chairman of the commission. The new committee also includes retired IAS officers Naveen Prakash and Roshni Sen as members. Additionally, Kanchan Chowdhury, a WBCS (Executive) officer, has been appointed as the Member-Secretary of the commission.

Objective of the Reconstitution

The state government stated that this restructuring is aimed at making administrative tasks more effective and ensuring the speedy resolution of matters related to the backward classes. The newly formed committee is tasked with taking charge of its responsibilities with immediate effect.
