On Wednesday afternoon, long queues were observed outside the OPD counter of the Jalpaiguri Medical College Super-Specialty unit. The influx of patients is affecting medical facilities across the entire district, ranging from rural hospitals to the main medical college. Health officials confirmed that the number of fever patients in the OPD has increased compared to previous weeks, with approximately 15 patients currently admitted to the wards. The pediatric department is also seeing a high volume of children suffering from these seasonal symptoms.

In addition to the rise in viral fever, health officials have noted an increase in dengue cases within the district. According to the health department, the number of dengue patients has reached nearly 100, though none currently require hospitalization. Similar reports of patients arriving with fever, cold, and cough have been recorded in the Rajganj block and Mainaguri areas.
