Uttarkashi district administration is on high alert following a heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Officials are taking urgent steps to protect tourists, trekkers, and pilgrims currently visiting the region.
District Magistrate Prashant Arya instructed officials to make all necessary safety arrangements for trekkers on routes and at base camps. Teams are coordinating rescue operations to move people to safer places if needed. Authorities advised residents, tourists, and pilgrims to avoid unnecessary travel due to risks of landslides, rising river water levels, and road blockages.
The administration deployed JCB machines, food supplies, medicines, and communication tools to clear blocked roads quickly. The Health Department stationed two ambulances and medical teams in Harsil for Char Dham pilgrims and tourists. People are advised to stay away from rivers and streams and call the District Disaster Operations Centre during emergencies.
