Uttarakhand Holds First Cabinet Meeting In Champawat

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired the first-ever state Cabinet meeting at the NHPC complex in Banbasa, located in the Champawat district near the India-Nepal international border. This new initiative aims to bring governance closer to remote and border regions of the state. During the meeting, several important decisions were taken to boost local development and address regional issues directly.

New Approach To Governance

Chief Minister Dhami stated that Cabinet meetings will no longer remain confined only to Dehradun but will take place in different districts across the state. This move provides a direct opportunity to place local issues and regional priorities before the government. The state government is working to reduce the gap between governance and the people to ensure development schemes reach everyone.

Focus On Border Area Development

Border areas serve as an important link in the country security, culture, and development, according to the Chief Minister. Connecting people living in border areas with the mainstream of development remains a top priority for the state government. Infrastructure, employment, tourism, and connectivity are being actively strengthened in these remote locations to meet public expectations.

Traditional Culture Highlighted

During the meeting in Banbasa, the Chief Minister and his ministers received the traditional Farra or Chhantoli, which is a symbol of Uttarakhand folk traditions. This traditional shield is tied to the famous Bagwal tradition of Devidhura in the Champawat district. Presenting this shield honors the cultural identity and traditions of the state border region.
