Union Minister Inaugurates New Silk Facility In Jorhat

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, inaugurated a new Grainage Building and Cold Storage Facility in Jorhat, Assam. This new facility aims to modernize the sericulture infrastructure and improve rural livelihoods across the North-Eastern Region.

Boosting Silk Production And Regional Growth

The new facility has a yearly production capacity of 30 lakh Disease-Free Layings of mulberry hybrid seed. It also features a preservation capacity of up to 1 crore Disease-Free Layings to help farmers in Assam and the wider region.

Support For Farmers And Local Economy

The upgraded infrastructure will ensure timely access to quality silkworm seeds and create new jobs. During the event, authorities also distributed seeds to farmers and honored people who completed training under the Samarth Scheme.
