Two police personnel from the 28th Assam Police Battalion were killed in a shooting incident at the temporary Gamairimura police outpost located in Kamrup district along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

Incident Details

The shooting happened on the first floor of the outpost facility. A fellow police officer named Chiranjib Choudhury allegedly used an AK-TAR service assault rifle to open fire after a dispute. The deceased officers were identified as Officer-in-Charge Lance Naik Indrajit Bora, who suffered eight gunshot wounds, and Havildar Fazrul Ali, who was struck by three rounds.

Police and Forensic Action

The gunfire caused an immediate response from nearby people. Tactical backup teams from the Boko Police Station and the Hahim Outpost arrived at the scene, where they detained the suspect and recovered the weapon. Forensic experts from Guwahati were sent to the site to collect ballistic samples and examine the room. The families of the victims are demanding a high-level inquiry, and security protocols at border outposts in Kamrup Rural are now under review.
