Tripura is getting ready to meet a high electricity demand of about 410 MW during the upcoming Durga Puja festival. The state government plans to put local needs first and cut down power supply to Bangladesh during this time. Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath held a meeting with officials from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited and Tripura Power Generation Limited to check the power plans. Last year, the state expected 380 MW but the actual use was 373 MW.
The review meeting checked power generation, transmission lines, and plans to fix technical problems quickly.
Power supply to Bangladesh will be reduced so that homes and pandals in Tripura get enough electricity. The state also talked about getting extra power from other regions if needed. Officials have been told to keep
standby transformers, vehicles, and workers ready across the state for quick help. The 1912 power helpline will be made stronger with more call centers and operators. All employee leaves are cancelled during the festival.
Standby transformers will be loaded on vehicles near big Puja venues to fix sudden failures fast. The Minister warned against
illegal connections and hook lines to stop electrical accidents. Organizers have been told about these risks. The India Meteorological Department said there are no signs of major storms during the festival, and a clear weather report will come around Mahalaya. Officials must submit their final reports before the festival begins.
