Tripura Boosts Agartala Urban Growth With Wetland Works

Tripura is working fast to make Agartala a modern and green city through new development projects. Tripuras Urban Development Department and the Agartala Municipal Corporation are leading this major push. Chief Minister Manik Saha opened a big renovation project for the historic pond near Ujan Abhoynagar Market on October 3, 2026. This project cost more than Rs 3 crore under the AMRUT 2.0 mission and added walking paths, green spaces, and new lights.

Water Body Restoration

Authorities are focusing on fixing natural water bodies to stop monsoon waterlogging. The state government is working to bring back 24 to 25 old water bodies and parks. Six out of nine planned places are already fixed as reported by ANI. These tasks are part of a bigger plan where 65 projects finished under the Smart City Mission for Rs 581 crore.

New Infrastructure Works

Chief Minister Saha also opened a new two-storey ward office in Pratapgarh on October 4, 2026. AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said the city is seeing huge infrastructure changes to make life better. Meanwhile, the Public Works Department started a World Bank-funded transport plan to build a digital platform for tracking all ongoing infrastructure works in the state.
