A 14-year-old class 9 student tragically died after being struck by a train while on her way to school in Purba Medinipur.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning at around 10:30 AM in the Bhogpur area.
The victim was identified as Soma Jana, a 14-year-old student of Bhogpur Kenaram Memorial High School. She lived in the same locality and was heading to school when the accident occurred.
According to locals and police,
she was crossing the railway tracks near Bhogpur station when a fast-moving train suddenly appeared. She was hit by the train and died on the spot. Local residents and the railway police reached the site and recovered the body. Her family members and classmates also arrived at the scene upon receiving the news.
The sudden death of the student has caused deep shock and sorrow among her family, classmates, and the entire local community. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
