A late-night motorcycle accident in the West Midnapore district resulted in the death of one young man and left another seriously injured on Monday. The incident occurred in the Dantan police station area when the bike lost its balance and crashed into a cement pole by the roadside.
The deceased man has been identified as Gourisankar Bera, a resident of Sabra in the Dantan-II block. Local residents stated that Bera had gone out for a ride with his friends on Monday night when the vehicle met with the accident upon entering Dantan.
Both riders suffered severe injuries due to the violent impact against the roadside structure.Local people pulled the victims out of the wreckage and discovered that Gourisankar Bera had died on the spot. The other injured youth was rushed to a separate medical facility for urgent treatment.
Officers from the Dantan police station arrived at the location after receiving information, took the body into custody, and sent it for an autopsy while investigating the cause of the crash.
