TMC Leader Arrested in Jalpaiguri for Social Media Post

Police in Jalpaiguri district have arrested a local Trinamool Congress leader for allegedly sharing offensive content about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Banarhat police station, following a formal complaint filed by local Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. The accused, Chand Binod Roy, serves as the deputy head of the Bana-2 Gram Panchayat.

Following the complaint, the police initiated an investigation into the matter. Authorities stated that the investigation began after reports emerged regarding controversial videos being shared online from the North Nutanpara Danga area. Police officials expressed concern that the shared content could disrupt peace and law and order in the region. Legal Action and Court Appearance

After completing the necessary legal formalities, the police took the TMC leader into custody. On Wednesday, Chand Binod Roy was presented before the Jalpaiguri District Court. Following his appearance in court, the judicial magistrate ordered him to be sent to judicial custody. This marks the second such case of social media-related police action in the Banarhat area within a week.
