Three Himalayan Goral Cubs Born In Darjeeling Zoo

Three Himalayan Goral cubs were born at the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park in Darjeeling during the Durga Puja season. Zoo management stated that the three cubs were born about two weeks ago and are currently kept with their mother while forest workers monitor them closely.

Increase in Goral Population

The birth of these new cubs has increased the total number of Himalayan Gorals in the zoo to around 25. The zoo is globally famous for the successful breeding of snow leopards and red pandas. Additionally, several birds including red junglefowl and Kalij pheasants have also been born at the facility.

Special Programme and Tourist Rush

A special programme was organized at the zoo from Saturday to Sunday on the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day. During this event, a board was set up to raise awareness about bird conservation where tourists shared their thoughts. According to zoo records, around 20,000 tourists, including nearly 50 foreign nationals, visited the zoo during these two days.
