Teachers Body Objects To Jadavpur Probe Committee Setup

A teachers organization linked to the RSS has raised serious objections to the inquiry committee formed by Jadavpur University to probe recent campus incidents. The All Bengal Higher Education Unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh has written a letter to the Vice-Chancellor demanding the immediate withdrawal of the current probe committee and the formation of a new independent committee.

Objections To Committee Head And Officials

The organization has questioned the appointment of Professor Subhankar Sarkar as the head of the inquiry committee. The letter claims he was removed from the post of chairman of the West Bengal Central School Service Commission in 2022 following Calcutta High Court proceedings over alleged recruitment irregularities. Furthermore, the teachers group has also raised questions regarding the appointment of Deputy Registrar Dr. Abul Hasnath as the presenting officer in the current inquiry, citing earlier unresolved questions about his appointment validity and minimum qualifications.

Demand For Independent Investigation

The teachers body has requested the Vice-Chancellor to include retired judges and experienced investigators in a newly formed independent committee to ensure absolute fairness. Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Chancellor of Jadavpur University and the Higher Education Department of the West Bengal Government.
