West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has warned that strict action will be taken against corruption in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. Speaking from the Uttarkanya branch secretariat in Siliguri on Tuesday, he stated that all cases of corruption in the GTA will be investigated properly.
The Chief Minister alleged that corruption took place in teacher recruitment and the misuse of public funds in the GTA. He stated that police cases will be filed and arrests will be made against the accused if needed. He made it clear that no person involved in corruption will be spared.
Suvendu Adhikari was scheduled to attend a program in Kalimpong town hall and distribute benefits of social schemes to local residents. However, his helicopter could not land in Kalimpong due to bad weather conditions. After failed landing attempts, the helicopter was safely brought to Siliguri for security reasons.
The Chief Minister attended the administrative meeting virtually from Uttarkanya after the helicopter landed at the Videocon ground. He reviewed various issues related to the functioning of the GTA and the development of the hill areas. He also assured an increase in the budget for the development of the GTA region.
