The Supreme Court has officially closed a public interest litigation seeking the removal of blockades on National Highway-2 in Manipur after the state government confirmed that the route is now open.
The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of the PIL after the State government informed the bench that the highway had been reopened.
The route is currently being used for the movement of essential commodities following the removal of obstructions.
The State filed a status report confirming the clearance of NH-2 and stated that efforts are underway to remove blockades from other national and state highways.
The bench observed that the issue was essentially a law and order problem and directed that any future concerns be brought to the notice of the local administration.
