Subarnarekha River Rises in Dantan Floods Villages

The water level of the Subarnarekha River has risen again after water was released from the Galudih reservoir in Jharkhand. This rise in water level has created a flood threat in wide areas of Dantan and Keshiary in the Paschim Medinipur district.

Farmlands Submerged in Water

By Thursday afternoon, river water began flowing above the banks in many places. Because of this, agricultural land, rice seedbeds, and planted crops have gone underwater. The sudden rise in water has caused heavy losses for farmers living near the river, increasing their worries.

Daily Life Disrupted for Villagers

Locals are facing severe trouble as they are forced to wade through knee-deep water for daily travel. People going to work, markets, or other important places are facing huge difficulties. Water has entered villages, and traffic is blocked because water is flowing over the main roads.

Administration Keeps Close Watch

Local social worker Asim Dutta stated that normal life has come to a stop in Barabaghra village of Dantan-I block. People living near the river are worried that more villages and farms might get flooded if the water level continues to rise. Local teacher Manohar Bali mentioned that the administration is keeping a strict watch on the current flood situation and the river water level.
