Students Protest Over Lack of Facilities in Islampur School

Students of Titpur High School in North Dinajpur staged a protest by blocking State Highway 12 to demand better school management and the removal of the headmaster. The students reported severe issues regarding the school environment and infrastructure that have disrupted their daily learning process.

Reasons Behind the Student Protest

Students stated that they are facing a major shortage of teachers for several classes even while examinations are currently ongoing. They also highlighted that the school lacks sufficient benches for students to sit comfortably. Furthermore, the students reported that the condition of drinking water facilities and toilets at the school is poor. The students claim that they have complained multiple times, but the school administration has not taken any concrete action to fix these problems.

Traffic Blockade on State Highway 12

After their examinations concluded, a large number of students gathered in front of the school and sat on State Highway 12 to register their protest. This action led to a significant disruption of traffic in the area for some time. Long-distance buses and goods-carrying vehicles remained stuck in the traffic jam caused by the demonstration.

Police Intervention to Restore Traffic

Upon receiving information about the blockade, officials from the Islampur police station arrived at the scene. The police officers spoke with the protesting students to address their grievances. Following the discussion with the police, the students cleared the road and restored normal traffic movement on the state highway.
