West Bengal has implemented a part of the anti-rowdy law to take strict action against people who damage public property. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced during a press meet at Nabanna that rulebreakers will pay three times the compensation along with interest. Police will also take immediate action if anyone attacks them.
The state passed the West Bengal Public Safety and Control of Anti Social Activities Bill, 2026, during the previous assembly session. The bill went to the governor after passing the assembly and received approval. The government aims to make the state free from anti-social elements using these strict rules.
The chief minister spoke about student clashes at Jadavpur University and damage to the emblem created by artist Nandalal Bose. Officials are checking photos and videos sent from the arts hostel to take necessary steps. The state will also celebrate patriotism day on August 28.
