SSB Arrests Four With Cannabis Near India Nepal Border

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) apprehended four individuals for smuggling narcotics near the India-Nepal border in Khoribari. Officers from the 41st Battalion conducted an operation on the night of August 18 after receiving intelligence reports. The team seized 20.175 kilograms of cannabis from the group during a checkpoint inspection near National Highway 327.
Details of the Operation
The operation took place at approximately 11:45 PM near the PWD turn, located four kilometers from the border. Authorities recovered four mobile phones along with the contraband during the search of the suspects' belongings. The arrested individuals are residents of Islampur, Cooch Behar, and Khoribari.
Legal Action Taken
Following the arrest, the SSB transferred the suspects, the seized cannabis, and the mobile devices to the local police. The Khoribari Police Station has initiated legal proceedings against the four individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The suspects reportedly admitted to purchasing the illegal items from a resident in Cooch Behar for sale.
