Indian Railways has announced two pairs of puja special trains between North and South Bengal to manage the heavy rush of passengers during the Durga Puja holidays.
The 03129 Kolkata-New Jalpaiguri Puja Special will run every Saturday and Sunday from October 17 to November 29. The train will leave Kolkata at 11:10 PM and reach New Jalpaiguri at 10:45 AM the next day.
The return train 03130 New Jalpaiguri-Kolkata Special will run every Sunday and Monday from October 18 to November 30, leaving New Jalpaiguri at 12:45 PM and reaching Kolkata at 12:40 AM the next day.
The 03005 Howrah-Lamding Puja Special will operate every Friday from October 16 to November 27. It will depart Howrah at 7:15 AM and arrive at Lamding at 8:00 AM the next day.
The return train 03006 Lamding-Howrah Special will run every Saturday from October 17 to November 28, leaving Lamding at 11:00 AM and reaching Howrah at 12:30 PM the next day. Both routes will offer general second class, sleeper, and air-conditioned coaches.
Railway officials stated that these special trains aim to provide extra travel services during the festive season. Ticket bookings for these trains have not started yet.
