A special committee has been formed to solve the long-pending problems and demands of the hills after a marathon meeting was held at a resort in New Chamta, Siliguri on Saturday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other prominent leaders were present at the meeting.
Pankaj Kumar Singh will lead the new committee which will include various political and social representatives from the hills.
Darjeeling MP Raju Bista stated that the committee will work on different issues and demands of the hills.
A graph has been prepared based on discussions, and the next meeting will review it to decide further steps. Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Vardhan Shringla called the meeting positive and stated that the right start has been made. Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Roshan Giri said the committee will raise all hill demands before the central government under constitutional rules.
