Sivasagar Police Arrest Drug Kingpin In Midnight Raid

Sivasagar district police arrested a suspected long-term drug trafficking operative named Raju Ali during a targeted midnight operation along the Dikhau river embankment on September 9, 2026. The raid took place near the municipal cremation grounds close to the Sadar Police Station. Law enforcement officials recovered 69 grams of suspected narcotics, Rs 14,500 in cash, and a soap box from the suspect. Police also seized a numberless R1 motorcycle containing scissors, narcotic medicines, and other items. This arrest follows strict directives from the Chief Minister to crack down on regional narcotics activity. Since the afternoon of September 9, 2026, police have detained about 10 more people suspected of involvement in the local drug trade, and interrogations are ongoing.
