Siliguri Women Protest Annapurna Scheme Name Removal

Women in Siliguri staged a protest on Tuesday against the removal of eligible names from the Annapurna Bhandar and other social welfare schemes. The All India Democratic Women's Association led a rally from Bagha Jatin Park to the Siliguri Municipal Corporation office. Police stopped the rally at the main gate of the municipal corporation.

Delegation Meets Municipal Officials

A five-member delegation met municipal officials to discuss the issue and demand a quick solution. The organization alleged that genuine beneficiaries are losing government benefits because their names were cut from the lists. Protesters demanded a quick verification to restore the names of eligible women. Municipal officials assured the delegation that necessary steps will be taken.
