Residents of Siliguri were treated to a stunning view of the snow-capped Kanchenjunga mountain on Wednesday morning amid the festive spirit of Durga Puja. The clear morning sky allowed people to witness the majestic sleeping Buddha view, leaving onlookers mesmerized. Many citizens captured the beautiful sight on their cameras, and the photos and videos quickly went viral on social media.
For the past several months, continuous rain and low-pressure systems made it impossible to get clear views of the mountain.
This caused disappointment for many tourists who had visited the hills hoping to see the peak. However, reduced rainfall in recent days and clear skies on Wednesday morning finally provided a clear and stunning glimpse of the mountain.
From people out for their morning walk to daily commuters on their way to work, everyone stopped for a few moments to admire the scenery.
Residents clicked pictures of Kanchenjunga from various flyover bridges across Siliguri. According to locals, while the peak can sometimes be seen from Siliguri and Jalpaiguri, such a clear view on a Wednesday morning is rare. Apart from Siliguri, the sleeping Buddha view was also visible from surrounding areas including Kalimpong.
