Siliguri hosted a grand rally on Saturday to celebrate World Tourism Day with active participation from students of various local schools and colleges.
The rally started from the Siliguri College ground and passed through the main roads of the city.
State tourism minister, local MLAs, the district magistrate of Darjeeling, and other senior administration officials attended the event.
During the event, the tourism minister shared details about new plans to develop tourism potential in the state.
The government plans to develop at least one special tourist spot in every district to strengthen the tourism infrastructure.
Plans are also underway to promote adventure tourism in the Darjeeling hills by identifying new trekking routes and building basic facilities.
