Protesters in Siliguri took to the streets on Tuesday to demand strict action against those who made objectionable comments on social media against Rajbanshi-Kamtapur women and Cooch Behar royals.
A large rally was organized by the Greater Rajbanshi-Kamtapur Society, starting from Surya Sen Park and moving through main city roads before reaching the SDO office.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the SDO, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused individuals for hurting community feelings and disturbing social harmony. Similar protests are also taking place across other parts of North Bengal.
