Siliguri Metropolitan Police has started a new route system to solve traffic problems and organize e-rickshaw movement in the city. The city will be divided into six different routes with specific stickers and route numbers for every e-rickshaw.
The process for route number one started on Thursday from Checkpost to Panitanki More.
Every e-rickshaw will have a clear route number so people can easily identify which path it follows. Police officials like Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza and DCP Traffic Kazi Samsuddin Ahmed were present during the launch.
Police will apply the remaining five routes step by step across the city in the coming days.
The main goal of this new plan is to keep e-rickshaws on fixed paths and reduce traffic jams in Siliguri.
