Siliguri Police Seize Foreign Liquor Worth Lakhs

Pradhannagar police in Siliguri have arrested a man and seized a large quantity of foreign liquor from a lodge near Siliguri Junction before it could be smuggled into Bihar. The suspect has been identified as Bhaskar Kumar, a resident of Saharsa district in Bihar.

Police raid at Siliguri lodge

Acting on a tip-off, the police team conducted a raid at the lodge late on Tuesday night. The police received information that a man was staying at the lodge with a large stock of foreign liquor intended for transport to Bihar. During the search of the room, officers found the liquor hidden inside two trolley bags. According to the report by Hindusthan Samachar, the suspect admitted during initial questioning that he planned to take the liquor to Bihar.

Legal action against suspect

The market value of the seized foreign liquor is estimated to be in the lakhs. The police have taken the accused into custody to conduct further investigation into the smuggling network. The arrested man will be presented before the Siliguri court on Wednesday to face legal proceedings.
