Siliguri Police Seize Brown Sugar and Arrest Three People

Siliguri police arrested three people and seized 259 grams of brown sugar on Burdwan Road on the evening of August 5, 2026. The operation was carried out by a team from the Khalpara TOP-II unit under the Siliguri Police Station after they received information about a planned drug handover.

Details of the Arrest

The three individuals taken into custody are 29-year-old Sahjamal and 18-year-old Arshad, who are both from Baghmara in the Kishanganj district of Bihar. The third person is 33-year-old Anjum Kausar, a resident of Coila Depot in Ward Number 7 of Siliguri. Police recovered the 259 grams of brown sugar directly from the possession of these three suspects during the raid.

Legal Action Taken

Following the arrests, the police registered a formal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Siliguri Police Station. All three accused are currently in police custody and are undergoing interrogation. Investigators are working to track how the drugs were transported from the border districts of Bihar to be sold within Siliguri.
