Siliguri Nursing Homes Raided By Health Commission

State health officials inspected multiple nursing homes in Siliguri to check safety standards and medical facilities. A team led by West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission Chairman Justice Biswanath Basu visited various healthcare facilities in the city to review infrastructure, patient care, and safety measures.

Fire Safety And Emergency Exits Checked

Officials found major lapses in fire safety systems and emergency evacuation routes during the surprise inspection. The team checked whether hospitals have proper arrangements to safely evacuate patients and visitors during fire emergencies. Concerns were raised over inadequate fire safety measures in some of the inspected nursing homes.

Doctor Registration And Basic Facilities

The health commission found discrepancies in doctor registration documents and poor sanitation in several facilities. Officials directed hospital managements to clearly display information regarding practicing physicians. Objections were also raised over unsatisfactory toilet conditions and lack of adequate drinking water for patients and their families. Management has been given time to fix all identified shortcomings or face strict action.
