According to the family, Pawan Shah, a resident of Gurung Basti in Siliguri, had been unwell for three days. After being advised by another hospital, his family admitted him to the Sevoke Road nursing home on Monday afternoon. The relatives claim that the patient was in a stable condition before being transferred. However, the family alleges that they were not allowed to meet the patient after admission and received no clear updates regarding his health until they were informed of his death later that night.

Public Protest and Road Blockade

Following the news of the death, the family members became agitated and started protesting inside the nursing home premises. The protest soon spilled over onto the main Sevoke Road, causing a significant traffic jam on the busy thoroughfare.
