The Siliguri Municipal Corporation demolished a part of an old building in Deshbandhupara. This action happened on October 3, 2026. The civic body followed a direct order from the Calcutta High Court to solve a property fight between an uncle and his nephew.
Heavy JCB machines were used to break down the property. Police officers were present at the spot to keep the peace and help municipal workers finish the work before the court deadline.
This demolition is part of a regular drive against unauthorized buildings in the city. The Calcutta High Court has stated many times that illegal structures cannot be saved and local bodies must act quickly on court orders.
