The Siliguri Municipal Corporation used a bulldozer to completely demolish an illegal three-story house in the Santoshi Nagar area on Saturday. This strict action was taken following a court order after the owner ignored multiple notices from the civic body.
The unauthorized three-story building was located in lane number one of Santoshi Nagar under ward number five of Siliguri. According to municipal corporation sources, the structure was built without any approved building plan. Officials stated that notices were issued several times, but the instructions were continuously ignored by the owner.
Earlier, a portion of the building constructed over a drain was also broken down by the authorities. Despite previous partial actions, the unauthorized construction remained, prompting the municipal corporation to approach the court for legal intervention. Following the court directives, the multi-story building belonging to Surendra Sahni was entirely demolished using a bulldozer. The municipal corporation has made it clear that strict actions against unauthorized constructions and illegal occupations on public land will continue in the future.
