Siliguri Municipal Corporation took strict action against an illegal construction in the Babupara area on Saturday. The civic body demolished the unauthorized portion of a multi-story building located near Alu Choudhury More in ward number 26.
According to municipal sources,
the building owner had added extra floors without permission. The civic body earlier issued a notice to the owner to remove the illegal part within a given time limit.
The owner failed to take any action even after the deadline passed, forcing the municipal authority to step in.
Officials and workers of the municipal corporation reached the spot on Saturday and started the demolition work.
The team completely dismantled the illegal structure following proper rules and regulations.
