A special committee will be formed to solve the long-pending problems and demands of the hills after a marathon meeting was held at a resort in New Chamta, Siliguri. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and state leader Suvendu Adhipari along with several hill leaders and political representatives were present at the meeting.
Darjeeling MP Raju Bista informed reporters that a committee will now be created to solve the old problems of the hills.
Pankaj Kumar Singh will handle the responsibility as the mediator for this committee, a role already assigned to him by the central government.
The committee will also include other political and social leaders from the hills to work on various issues and demands.
A graph has been prepared based on the discussions held on multiple important topics related to the hills.
The next meeting will review this graph to decide the further strategy.
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Roshan Giri stated that the committee will present the long-standing demands and problems of the hills to the central government following constitutional rules.
