Siliguri Man Rescued From BSNL Tower After Hours

A young man was safely rescued from a high mobile tower in Siliguri after spending nearly seven and a half hours at a great height.

Man Climbs BSNL Tower in Siliguri

The incident took place at the BSNL tower near Hospital More in Siliguri when a man named Badshah climbed up the 91-meter-high structure. His presence on the tower created panic in the area, leading to a massive crowd gathering on the road and causing traffic diversions. Police, fire personnel, and the administration faced a major challenge as they did not have the training to climb such a great height.

Joint Rescue Operation and Demands

A joint rescue operation was carried out by the National Disaster Response Force, Civil Defence, police, and a trained mountaineer. Authorities used a drone to monitor the man and tried to persuade him to come down using a microphone, while also sending food items like sweets, chocolate, and chicken biryani up the tower. After a long rescue effort, the man was safely brought down on a stretcher and sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for treatment by the police.
