Siliguri Launches Road Safety Week 2026 Awareness Drive

The West Bengal government has officially launched the Road Safety Week 2026 in Siliguri to promote better traffic awareness among residents. Organized under the initiative of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate, this special campaign began on Monday and will continue until August 9. The primary objective of this event is to educate the public about road safety rules and reduce traffic-related risks.

Inauguration at Air View More

The event was formally inaugurated at the busy Air View More area in the city. During the launch, officials addressed the public to emphasize the importance of following traffic regulations. Following the opening session, a rally was conducted through several key locations in the city. Participants used tableaus and placards to display various road safety messages to commuters and pedestrians.

According to the administration, several more awareness activities are planned throughout the week. These initiatives are designed to encourage greater responsibility and vigilance among citizens while using the roads. The launch ceremony saw the participation of several prominent officials and citizens. Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh, Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waqar Raza, and DCP Kazi Shamsuddin Ahmed were present at the event. The program also included the active participation of senior police officers, police personnel, civic volunteers, and members of the public.
