Siliguri Hotels Receive Notices Over Fire Safety Concerns

Authorities have issued notices to 16 hotels and lodges in Siliguri following concerns regarding their fire safety arrangements. The action comes as city officials increase scrutiny of emergency exit systems and fire prevention measures in local hospitality businesses.

Fire Safety Notices Issued

Sixteen hotels in Siliguri have been issued official notices due to deficiencies in their fire safety systems. Most of these establishments are located in the Junction and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) areas of the city. According to reports, no hotel has applied to have these notices removed by implementing the necessary safety improvements yet.

Inspection Findings and Compliance

The fire department conducts regular safety audits across the city. During these inspections, officials identified issues such as blocked emergency exits and illegal construction in several properties. The department has instructed hotel management to carry out required modifications to meet safety standards. Meanwhile, the Siliguri Hoteliers Association states that approximately 95 percent of hotels in the city follow minimum fire safety regulations. Residents can find information about fire safety guidelines on the official West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services website.
