Siliguri Hosts Puja Tour For Special Needs Children

Special needs children in Siliguri experienced the joy of Durga Puja through a special pandal hopping event organized on Mahapanchami morning. The initiative was taken by the state tourism department and the voluntary organization Uttaran, in collaboration with the North Bengal Handicap Rehabilitation Society.

Special Puja Tour for 290 Children

A total of 290 children and their parents participated in this special program. Authorities arranged for them to visit 14 puja pandals across Siliguri city in specially decorated buses. State tourism minister Shankar Ghosh and representatives of the Uttaran organization flagged off the buses from Baghajatin Park on Thursday morning.

Arrangements for Food and Entertainment

Minister Shankar Ghosh stated that sharing happiness with special needs children and the elderly completes the true meaning of the festival. Along with pandal visits, the organizers arranged food and entertainment for the children throughout the day. The children looked very happy to see the city pandals closely and share the festival joy with their friends.
