Siliguri Hosts 16th Kaizen Open Karate Championship

The Kaizen Karate-Do Association India organized the 16th Kaizen Open Championship 2026 at Birla Divya Jyoti School in Uttarayan, Siliguri, on Monday. This one-day sporting event saw participation from approximately 300 athletes representing various states across India. The competition served as a platform for young martial artists to showcase their skills in a structured environment.

Wide Participation Across India

Athletes from several states traveled to Siliguri to compete in this championship. Participants arrived from West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Bihar. The event featured Kata and Kumite categories for competitors ranging from 4 years old to those aged 18 and above. The primary goal of the championship was to provide a professional stage for young talent to demonstrate their karate abilities.

Event Dignitaries and Support

Chief guest Jyotsna Agarwal officially inaugurated the tournament. Several notable guests were present, including Birla Divya Jyoti School HR Coordinator Dipavita Dey, Pranav Goyal, and UCO Bank Shivmandir branch manager Abhijit Ghosh. The organizing body was represented by Kaizen Karate-Do Association India Chief Technical Director Shihan Debashish Thapa, Vice President Sandeep Ghoshal, and Joint Secretary Jitendra Pandey. The event received support from various local institutions, including Jiga Alliance, Neonetwell Multispeciality Hospital, Bright Academy, Doon Horizon School, The Daily Chilli, UCO Bank, and Rotary Club Siliguri Green. Winners of the different categories were honored with awards by the guests during the closing ceremony.
