Siliguri Hindu Mahasabha Demands Action Against Pub Violations
The Bangiya Hindu Mahasabha has officially requested the local administration to investigate and take action against alleged illegal activities occurring in various pubs, nightclubs, and dance bars across Siliguri. The organization raised these concerns during a press conference held at the Siliguri Journalists Club on Wednesday.
Allegations of Illegal Activities
Organization president Vikramaditya Mandal alleged that several pubs located on Sevoke Road and in the Matigara area are operating in violation of the law. Key concerns raised by the group include the entry of individuals under the age of 18 into these establishments and the serving of alcohol and drugs to minors. Furthermore, the organization has leveled serious accusations regarding the operation of escort services and prostitution within some of these premises. Officials have urged parents to monitor their children closely and provide proper guidance to keep them away from these environments.
Concerns Over Operational Standards
Beyond the reported illegal activities, the group highlighted issues regarding the conduct of these businesses. They pointed to the practice of displaying 'free entry for ladies' banners on social media and outside venues, which the organization claims is an inappropriate method to attract women. Additionally, there are complaints that several establishments remain open late at night beyond the permitted operational hours. The organization also alleged that offensive photos and videos are being posted on the social media accounts of these pubs, which they believe negatively impacts society.
Use of Political Influence
During the press conference, specific allegations were made regarding a birthday celebration held at a pub in a Sevoke Road mall. It was claimed that a photo of the pub owner with a West Bengal state government minister was displayed on a screen during the event. The Bangiya Hindu Mahasabha stated that using such imagery to project political influence is unacceptable. The organization has warned of launching a formal protest if the administration does not conduct a thorough investigation into these various allegations and take necessary corrective action.
