Siliguri Authorities Inspect City Eateries for Food Safety

The Food Safety Department and Siliguri Municipal Corporation conducted a joint inspection drive on Tuesday to ensure food quality and safety for the residents of the city. Officials visited various sweet shops, restaurants, and hotels to check the quality of food items, expiry dates, cleanliness, and storage methods.

Expired food items found during inspection

During the drive, officials discovered expired food items at a restaurant located inside Planet Mall. Following this finding, the restaurant management was issued a formal notice. The authorities also requested the management to provide medical reports and health-related documents for all staff members involved in food preparation. The restaurant management failed to produce these documents immediately but assured the officials that they would submit them soon.

Strict action promised for safety violations

Officials from the Food Safety Department stated that strict action will be taken against any establishment that ignores food safety rules. The authorities confirmed that such inspection drives will continue across the city to maintain standards. This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Hindusthan Samachar agency report to monitor public health compliance in Siliguri.
