Siliguri successfully celebrated Durga Puja in a peaceful and safe environment with strict police security. The four-day festival passed without any major untoward incidents, allowing residents to enjoy the celebrations with their families.
Siliguri Metropolitan Police made extensive security arrangements,
deploying two thousand police officers across the city under the supervision of senior officials. Drones with night vision cameras monitored the city, while top police officers patrolled the streets on bikes at night. Special teams like the Winners squad, Pink patrolling vans, and anti-pickpocket units remained active to protect women and manage crowds.
Police arrested about 255 troublemakers from seven police station areas for creating disturbances, eve-teasing, and drunken brawls during the festival. Despite strict security, eight road accidents occurred in the city during the festival, resulting in three deaths.
