Siliguri Municipal Corporation Commissioner Beer Vikram Rai made a surprise visit to different areas of the city on Tuesday morning to check the cleanliness system. He inspected garbage cleaning and the work of employees in areas including Sevoke Road and Haiderpara. During the inspection, the Commissioner expressed anger after finding negligence and absence of employees at some places. While checking the Haiderpara area, he took information about the ward and ordered to issue a show-cause notice to the absent official of Boro number 5.
Action will be taken to fine the supervisor of the concerned ward after garbage and filth were found lying along the road in an area of Sevoke Road. Illegal hoardings and advertisements were also found in various parts of Sevoke Road during the inspection. It is alleged that the revenue of the municipal corporation is being harmed through these illegal hoardings. The Commissioner also expressed anger over the role of advertising department employees in this matter. An employee of the department was also alleged to be found in an intoxicated state during the inspection. The said employee was removed from the spot and the Commissioner warned of strict action against him.
